RX-78-2 Rollout Colors Origin Ver.

This is a custom build I finished a while back that was inspired by the RX-78 Rollout Colors from the Origin series. Most of the intensive work on this project was attempting to recreate a semi-accurate silhouette of the origin style.

This entailed a slight modification on the cockpit region which I just sanded to a more accurate shape. I also added the small cannon & missile launcher by the collars. I utilized a leftover piece from the MG Origin RX-78 and scratch built the mirroring side. I scratch built the shoulder armor by adding a layer of plastic plate and adding the cylinders into place. To create the two head antennas, I drilled some 3mm holes and mounted runners cut to size. I drilled a smaller hole in the runners and inserted a paperclip fragment. I removed the v-fin and covered up the sides of the middle binder with pla plates. I also remade the backpack by removing the original thrusters and adding some leftovers from the Ez-8. I also put a bigger beam saber on one side.

For the armaments, I added the shoulder cannon from the same MG Origin RX-78 and took the hyper-bazooka from an old HG kit. I inverted the shield in order to make it more similar to the Origin style.

The details were pla-plates cut to size and shallow holes drilled with a vice. I tried to remove seam lines with little success, so I ended up concealing the major regions with plates. The base was made of wood with a scribed sheet glued to the top. I hollowed out some runners to replicate empty shells.

Paint wise, I used Rustoleum spray paint for the white, grey, and gold parts. Vallejo acrylics were used for details, like the red regions and the vulcans.
