Base Kit
MG MVF-X08 Eclipse GundamFirst Ever Master Grade
I built this kit a few months ago. It was a learning experience, but I won’t lie and pretend it was a great build. The transformation gimmick makes it a bit hard to build, and there’s a lot of shifting and movement where I would prefer much firmer, sturdy fitment. The feet are also not great to support the figure in any pose other than an upright standing position.
That said, it’s a really nice looking kit all built.
I was building so quickly at the time I put this one together that I put it up on the shelf without adding any decals, and this was before I was doing any panel lining or top coating.
When transformed the kit has less of a “this looks like a robot that’s missing limbs” look than any other transforming Gunpla kit I’ve seen, although as it takes a full 10 minutes to transform I will never be messing with that feature again.

Time to finish this
While I await some paints to come in the mail for a custom Epyon in my backlog I’ve decided to go back and panel line and top coat some of my past models.
I definitely went overboard panel lining. I should have top coated first. For some reason the matt top coat really agitated the Gundam marker. I may be top coating too quickly after panel lining.

Stickers on
Added the included stickers. There are a lot of extras, setting those aside for the next worthy HG kit.
Photo shoot time
Decided to set up an eclipse themed shoot with a globe. Bounced a strobe off of a white circle of construction paper behind the globe. Used my phone flashlight as a fill light on the model.
