Finally finished the full mechanics bandai barbatoslupusrex. I had built this along with my other full mechanics kits 2 years ago, and I had two of these kits. It was my first time painting a gunpla back then, and I used spray cans before for the 1st one. Now that I have an airbrush, I decided to go back and repaint the 2nd one which was straight built out of the box.
I did a 1cm torso extension for it, and added some custom side support frame from extra parts of the psycho zaku to make sure the proportions look ok. Also had a used broken pair of wired earphones on my build table, so I got the black wire from that and added.it onto the torso for additional details.
I kinda went ham on the hand drill, and put a lot of holes on the body armor for some more added details. The I cut up some armor parts from the arm to expose more inner frame.
For the weapons, I had an extra GN Blade from my repair 2 exia kit, and attached it with a small metal rod to the sub arms on the back of his right arm. Then I also added a gattling gun from the HG Customize campaign I had for awhile now to the left side of the backpack, for aome over the shoulder gattling gun action.
Painting was just same color scheme from original, with preshading. Then detailed up hand painted parts like the pistons, and some inner frame portions. Took a break before I got to weathering the kit though, and didn’t go in too much. Just went and made the lower waist and legs dirty, and rusty. Minor weathering for the torso, arms, and head. Then flat coat for the final topcoat. Decals came from various kits I did before, with just the shoulder armor decals coming from MG Barbatos waterslides I have.
