This SD Gouf Custom was built as an entry for the Plamo Labs Open 2021.

The plan for this build was to turn the stock solid light blue plastic SD kit into something more representative of the Gouf Custom. Given the age on the kit (released in 2000) compared to modern SD counter parts, it leaves a lot of room to be improved by the builder.

Modifications

Besides basic seam line removal, voids from the molding process were filled in so they could be rounded off and have a solid piece in areas of the arms & power piping around the head.

Additional work was made by replacing the stock premolded thruster bells that appeared squashed with ones that had been cut to shape and fit a bit better with the original designs.

The connection for the machine gun and the shield had been shortened by about 3mm to make it sit more flush to the model.

The machine gun itself has had the scope & barrels bored out to allow for the inclusion of a painted transparent runner piece & stainless steel beads to improve visual details.

The arms were modified during seamline removal to instead attach via custom 3mm pegs as opposed to the original design that closed around a connector. The premolded hands were removed & replaced with HG builders parts - using the small hands to allow for posability, better detail, and part separation for painting purposes.
