I built this original PG RX-78-2 Gundam in celebration of the new PG RX-78-2 Unleashed, and in conjunction with the Gunpla Gallery Giveaway of the PGU at the beginning of 2021.
It’s displayed in a custom acrylic case that allows the armor to appear exploded off the inner frame. Even though it’s over 20 years old, this PG has some really great detail in its inner frame and the back sides of its armor pieces. Knowing that would all be visible in the final display, I spent quite a lot of time painting and detailing every little bit.
I’m quite pleased with the end result, and I think it looks great from all angles.
Below are some close up shots of the weapon loadout. The shield is one of my favorite parts of the entire build. The beam rifle was a fun challenge because of its terrible seam lines.
This build is a lot of fun to photograph because there’s detail everywhere. Here are a few of my favorite detail shots.
As with all my recent builds, this one includes a custom Gunpla Gallery logo decal. I usually hide the logo, but this time I decided to make it a prominent feature on the front of the chest.
