These guys were such a fun project. I remember watching Frosted Snow’s tutorial on Youtube for getting the marble paint effect and really wanting to try it out. It’s the first build where I attempted candying coating. It’s a very fun but long process.
According to the video, the way you get the marble effect is by starting off with a glossy black base. Then you heavily paint silver on top. You wanna use leveling thinner for this as well because you want the paint to be nice and wet for this next step. Grab some saran wrap and wrap it over the wet silver paint and that’s what causes the marble effect. After that, you can put a clear color of whatever you desire on top to give it the full effect. As you can see, I decided to go with Red and Blue.
This kit is also the first kit where I installed LEDs from Evans Designs. It was something I’ve always wanted to try and with the clear parts the kit had, I knew it was perfect to try it out. Getting the glue to work with the LEDs was a bit of a hassle but I believe the payout worked out in the end.
Overall, very fun and quick project to do. And yes before you ask, I did break one of the arms off the blue ball :P
