My Thoughts on the Gundam:
When I started this project I initially was planning to just focus on improving the articulation of the RX-98-5 Gundam GO5. After building up the gundam up to waste and finishing the modifications I opted to scrap the feet in the kit and made custom ones and change the look of the original kit while keeping some of the original look of the kit. You can see the full WIP on this twitter thread: Link
I realized while working on this build I greatly prefer Kitbashing rather than going super detailed with scribbing panel lines and or super detailed paint jobs. That’s when I opted to scrap my original idea of “just improving the articulation” to just going all in on kitbashing. My goal when kitbashing is to make something so unique that it is new rather than just looking like 2 kits mashed together. If you look closely you will see parts from the 00 Quan[T], Exia, Frame Arms YSX-24RD/NE Zerufikaru / NE (1/100 scale plastic kit) [Miyazawa Limited Edition], some Hexa Gear expansion sets and various other parts I have from other builds I have done.
My thoughts on the weapon:
Initially the Charged Terminus was not even a planned weapon as I though of just giving the Dusk Veil some swords and calling it a day. It wasn’t until I had already finished the hangar and was read to take pictures that I realized I needed to give it a weapon of some kind. I got the idea of a chain gun or the sword that is carried rather than held. I then opted for something with a square shaped exit point and went for a squared barrel as well. what I came up with is something like a rail gun but not 100% a rail gun in looks. I really enjoyed building it and it took me roughly 20 hours to finish up.
CI-78-SType Dusk Veil Gundam LSF01 is Piloted by an American, Luke Ringard, who works for CVM Industries. It was designed for atmospheric combat and sub orbital flight. It is equipped with 2 Helix Drives which power the flight unit and sub-thrusters on the units body. The armor plating is a composition of Gundanium, Lunatite and Silvarium, engineered by CVM Industries known as Lunvarium. This plating was first used in a prototype that the Dusk Veil’s frame was based on however it is considered to be the first Gundam to utilize it.
The single weapon designed for Dusk Veil is the CI-DVO1-0ST1 Charged Terminus. While originally was designed to be a rail gun early tests show that firing it at high speeds impacted the performance of the Dusk Veil. It was instead retooled into a particle weapon that retro fitted the original charging system for firing the weapon. It combines electricity and super heated Lunatite particles in the chamber before firing the energy. Using the weapon had minimal impact on the performance after being retooled. However it lost its ability to be used as a long range weapon from sub orbit as originally designed. It excels at mid range encounters which compliments the Dusk Veil’s speed.
Dusk Veil is also quipped with M.A.R.S, Manual Augmented Reaction System. This system allows the pilot to have greater control of the unit while moving at high speeds. However the strain it places on the the pilot has lead to CVM Industries to build in an activation limit and cool down to prevent mental degradation of the pilot due to information overload. M.A.R.S also controls the main power source driver, CI-01-HV4 Typhoon, the Dusk Veil is equipped with.
CI-78-SType Dusk Veil Gundam LSF01 Is capable of reaching speeds of 4,510mph / 7258km/h when M.A.R.S is activated and not equipped with CI-DVO1-0ST1 Charged Terminus. It can maintain this speed for up to 30 seconds at which point M.A.R.S will disengage. Its top speed at this point is 2385mph / 3838 km/h. It is unknown if Dusk Veil can hit these top speed with Charged Terminus equipped or if these are it’s true specs.
