I built this kit back in 2009. It was my first experiment with weathering and trying to paint “properly.” I had gone to a convention and attended a panel by modeller Gamera Baenre and took a lot of his advice to heart.

I slowly worked on this while watching the entire Votoms TV show, so I had to paint the shoulder red in tribute. I then immediately applied one of the dry transfer decals upside down on it. D’oh!

Incidentally, part of the reason for me doing a weathered approach here was because the dry transfer decals were so hard to transfer without error. I’ve avoided them ever since.

I’m still very proud of how this turned out because it represents such a big jump in my modelling skills.
