The Zaku II [Stutzer] was an upgraded configuration of the more standard Zaku II F2 created by Zeon Remnants. Some of these units were captured by the Titans and the EFSF, leading to various other modifications, most notably the color scheme, mirroring the EFSF Zaku II’s signature tan. The aforementioned modifications were more like repairs, using spare Federation technology to refurbish and revitalize these units for battle once more. This particular unit’s front weapon panels were heavily damaged, leading to new ones being made completely from scratch. The weapons used on these plates are an outdated BOWA*XBR-M-79-07G Beam Rifle carried over from limited-production GM units, now upgraded by way of a chargeable shot and external generator. The second of these plate-mounted weapons is the winch arm, which now uses a repurposed Powered GM forearm assembly. The wire on which it is mounted can be cut using the head or chest fins, in case of emergency. Lastly, this unit was given a Powered GM’s shield to make up for a lack of defense on its left side, as well as helping Federation pilots get acclimated to piloting this mobile suit. These captured Zaku II [Stutzer]s saw use prior to and during the Gryps Conflict, but were taken off the field soon after, being relegated to worker machines, which saw use all the way until U.C. 0096.
The model kit itself is based on the Gundam The Origin Zaku II, which received numerous scratchbuilt additions. The head has been given a clear part for the monoeye (making it barely visible in certain lighting), and a custom scratchbuilt fin which is made in separate halves so that the top and bottom halves of the head are still able to separate in need be. The Powered GM shield was actually made using a HGUC Gundam Revive’s shield, sanding the surface (including the cross symbol) flat with a strip of plaplate laid over the top to serve as the ridge on the center of the shield. The main inspiration for the colors on this build were the EFSF Zaku II F2’s tan, and the EFSF Hizack’s dark blue. The main reason this was made as an EFSF-captured unit is due to the lack of parts to turn it into a true Zaku II [Stutzer], notably the Gelgoog’s beam rifle in place of the RX-78-2’s and a third Zaku forearm in place of the Powered GM’s.
