First Impressions
I can’t lie, I fell in love with this kit as soon as I saw it pop up on P-Bandai. The colors, the shoulder cannon, the asymmetry… it all really spoke to me.
My build of the GM Guard Custom has consistently been the kit on my shelf that always draws my eye, so I had high hopes that the GM Cannon would be like that but even better! The Guard Custom has such a great set of colors and nice detailing for a grunt suit, so surely the GM Cannon would top it!
Needless to say… I was very wrong
Body Building
My disappointment started early with this one - Why is the blue so different than the blue on the GM Guard Custom? Why is it this cartoonish bright blue instead of the nice muted blue of the other kit?
Why does ALL the plastic seem so much glossier? Everything about this kit looks and feels cheaper compared to the REGULAR RELEASE Guard Custom, despite the Cannon being a P-Bandai!
Get Equipped
Not a whole lot in the way of extra equipment on the GM Cannon. Just the lonely Rocket Bazooka and Beam Spray Gun. I don’t know if I should actually count the 360mm Cannon on the shoulder as an extra armament or not, considering how essential it is to the suit.
A small plus to this disappointing kit is the fact that the Beam Spray Gun is able to mount to the rear of the suit when not in use. It’s a little loose back there, but it worked fine for posing.
Mission Complete
If nothing else, at least I had fun posing it? And, like many of my builds, maybe one day I’ll paint this thing and make it look how I really want it to look.
Maybe.
